Come and visit with us the most interesting sights of the second largest town of the Canton of Zurich with its 200 years of industrial culture. 200 years ago Winterthur started to become an internationally significant industrial town with its first mechanical spinning mill.

There is no other Swiss town in which you can see so many important works of art. Additionally, Winterthur has a very lively music and theatre scene. Here, you will find the largest guest theatre, some small theatres and the highlight of the Swiss comedy scene, the Casinotheater.

Winterthur's art museums present a unique range of master works of European artists from the late Middle Ages to the present. Winterthur has such a great cultural treasure thanks to many private art collectors, amongst one of the most famous ones is Oskar Reinhart (1885-1965) whose extensive collection is shown in two museums. Last but not least, Winterthur has the only photo museum in the German part of Switzerland.

Winterthur is also worth a visit thanks to its different castles and churches in and around the town, as well as many architectural sights.

Two examples are:
The Stadtkirche (Town Church), the emblem of the old town of Winterthur. When you go inside, you will be particularly impressed by the magnificent barock organ from the 18th century as well as the mighty wall painting cycle of the Bernese painter Paul Zehnder.
The City Hall. The monumental sandstone building with its impressive Corinthian temple front and its huge flight of steps is known to be one of the most significant buildings of historicism in Europe.

Another idea is to walk through Neustadtgasse (New Town Lane). Here, you will find rows of picturesque petty bourgeois and craftsmen's houses with their romantic inner courtyards. We wish you a wonderful time in Winterthur.
